The house was completed in about 1955/1956 and demolished ca. 2012. To its right and slightly above it is a cottage built by Griffin for his son George and wife Joyce.

Myrtle (Nerine) Hayes standing in front of the top gate at "Spit House", Manson's Lagoon. When the Hayes family arrived on Cortes Island in 1917, they rented the "Big House", formerly the house of the Michael Manson family at Manson's Lagoon.
