Identified on the verso (May Ellingsen's handwriting) as (L to R) Jack Manson, Anna Manson, Beatrice Hawkins, Meg Robertson, Mabel Hawkins.
Jack Manson has his arm in a sling; he had suffered an accident while working in the woods.
Found on shelf, November 2021, in an envelope labelled "Early Days Cortes Island. Enclosed Etta Byers' stuff including her typed story".

Myrtle (Nerine) Hayes standing in front of the top gate at "Spit House", Manson's Lagoon. When the Hayes family arrived on Cortes Island in 1917, they rented the "Big House", formerly the house of the Michael Manson family at Manson's Lagoon. The first Manson home, a cottage, was past the "Big House" towards the end of the sand spit. (Photograph from the Hayes family.)

Photographs depict the pupils at the second Whaletown school standing beside the school. The photograph was taken by Evelyn Dow, who taught there from February 1928 to June 1929. This school was built in 1918 near the corner of Coulter Bay Road and Carrington Bay Road, and was used (with improvements) until 1950. The front, side and surroundings of the school are clearly shown.
Front row third from left is Marion Borden; Vernon Borden next to her fourth from left.

Scope and Content
Photographs depict the pupils at the second Whaletown school standing beside the school. The photograph was taken by Evelyn Dow, who taught there from February 1928 to June 1929. This school was built in 1918 near the corner of Coulter Bay Road and Carrington Bay Road, and was used (with improvements) until 1950. The front, side and surroundings of the school are clearly shown.
