Part of a series of photographs taken by Don Maclean at a logging camp at the Quatam River in Ramsey Arm, BC. The camp was likely one of the stops on his patrol for the Columbia Coast Mission.
Series consists of one photograph album containing 329 black and white photographs with captions, dating from 1922 to 1924. The photographs depict Dorothy Huck, friends and family, on Cortes and in Saskatchewan. There are also some commercial photographs of the Rocky Mountains.
Edges of the cover are frayed; the first five, the eighth and the last four pages are broken along the fold and are loose. The photographs are glued onto the black cardboard pages and show signs of rippling, creasing, dirt and wear but most of the images are very clear. Some of the pictures are loose or missing.
Scope and Content
Series consists of one photograph album containing 329 black and white photographs with captions, dating from 1922 to 1924. The photographs depict Dorothy Huck, friends and family, on Cortes and in Saskatchewan. There are also some commercial photographs of the Rocky Mountains.
Series consists of photographs collected by May Ellingsen during her activities documenting the history of Cortes Island. Most of the photographs date from the first half of the 1900s and include pictures of the Manson and other Cortes Island settler families, places and events. A set of photographs from Slim Barnard of the Happy Ranch contains pictures of Cortes Island and B.C. from the 1950s.
Some of the photographs are copies of historic Cortes photographs which were collected by May Ellingsen and reproduced by the Campbell River Museum in 1985. Where known, the Campbell River Museum number is indicated. (See 2004.002 - May Ellingsen fonds.)
